I have studied elsewhere, do you take into account APL?
We are committed to giving prior learning its due recognition. Application for credit from other assessed courses or significant prior learning can be made at Masters level study (level 4) only. However, our BA (Hons) requires the student to provide original evidence for admission with credit of 240 credits (120 at level 1 and 120 at level 2). For example, a current Foundation degree in an education-related subject or a teacher's certificate of education (the 3-year full-time variety).

When do the modules run? I work during the week, and attending during the day isn't a viable option
The Centre courses have been developed to take into account teachers' needs, so most of the modules are taught from 5.30-8.30pm on weekday evenings, mainly Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some are for day release only. Each subject module has it's own pattern. Take a look at our programme of events for when modules run.

How many credits do I have to complete to gain a BA (Hons) or MA (Hons)?
The MA is 180 credits and must include a research module and completion of a dissertation, but you actually only study 120 credits at The Centre, which must include a research methodology module and a dissertation module. The remaining 240 credits must be processed by the University as admission with credit prior to a student attending the course. An example of 240 credits would be a Foundation degree in a relevant education-related subject or a teachers certificate in education (the 3-year full-time variety).

How many words must my dissertation be?
Approximately 25,000 words for the MA (Hons)

What is 'admission with credit'?
It is a phrase that refers to the entry process for BA (Hons) students only. Our current BA degree is known as a 'Post-experience' first degree which means you only have to study 120 credits and not 360 credits. Clearly you would need to already have 240 credits in order to be eligible for such a degree.
